One company on the manifest

Greer Enterprises has been in business since 2001, working out of two offices and across eight Southeastern states. What distinguishes the company is narrower and more useful than a mission statement: it holds the transporter permit and runs the equipment, so a load is not handed to whoever is cheapest that week.

Nothing is brokered between your dock and the receiving facility

A great deal of waste work is arranged by companies that own no trucks and hold no permits. That is a legitimate way to operate and it has a consequence: when a question comes back from the receiving facility, the company answering it is not the company that moved the load. Greer is a permitted hazardous waste transporter moving material on its own equipment, which means one company on the manifest and one company to call.

The characterization is done by a chemist, not a form

Under RCRA the generator makes the hazardous waste determination and carries the liability for it. Asking a customer to pick their own codes transfers that work to the person least equipped to do it. A Certified Hazardous Materials Manager profiles the stream from process knowledge and analysis, which is the part of this business that actually decides cost and risk.

Disposal and recovery sit under the same roof

Greer runs recycling and recovery services alongside disposal. That matters because the honest answer to "should this be reclaimed or destroyed" is not the same every time, and a company that only sells one of them will only ever recommend one of them.

A division for the small-generator end

BioMed Solutions is Greer's division for regulated medical waste from clinics, dental offices, veterinary practices and other small healthcare generators on the Gulf Coast — a different scale of work, run on routes built for it.

Two offices rather than a depot in every city

Greer works across eight Southeastern states from Mobile and Tampa. That is worth stating plainly, because a company with a page for every city can look like a company with a yard in every city. It is not, and the difference shows up in scheduling: some places are same-region, some are a planned route, and a quote that pretends otherwise is one that gets revised later. Each city page says which office covers it.

The liability does not leave with the truck

Under RCRA a generator owns its waste from the moment it is created until it is destroyed. No contractor takes that on, and any that implies otherwise is selling something it cannot deliver. What a waste company can actually do is make the work defensible: a characterization that holds up, a manifest that comes back signed, and records that answer the question an inspector asks rather than approximately answering it.

Two offices, eight states

Whatever your about inquiry is, it reaches one of two places: Mobile, the head office, covering the western Gulf Coast and inland, or Tampa, covering the Florida peninsula and the Atlantic side. Distance decides which, not paperwork.
