Box truck waste transport

Most generators do not produce a trailer load. A box truck is the answer for sites where the constraint is access rather than capacity: a clinic on a main street, a laboratory in a business park, a shop with no dock.

Access decides this one, not volume

A tractor-trailer needs somewhere to turn, somewhere to stop legally, and usually a dock at the right height. A great many generators have none of those: a narrow yard, a shared car park, a kerbside collection point, a ramp rather than a dock. A box truck with a lift gate solves the physical problem, and it also solves a scheduling one, because a smaller vehicle can run a multi-stop route calling at several sites in a day instead of dedicating a trip to each. That is why the box truck is the workhorse behind laboratory, healthcare and small-plant collection: it is not the cheapest way to move a ton of anything, and it is very often the only way to move a drum from where it actually is.

What goes this way

The streams box trucks handles, and what each one is under the rules — with acceptance decided by a profile rather than by a name on a drum.

  • Palletized or loose

    Drums and totes

The standard small-generator collection, loaded by lift gate where there is no dock.

  • Overpack drums

    Lab packs

Packed on site and loaded the same visit.

  • Scheduled

    Multi-stop route collection

Several sites in a day, which is what makes small volumes economic at all.

When this is not the right route

The cases where box trucks is not what you want, and what to use instead.

What you get back

The records box trucks produces, and what each one is evidence of — because the liability for a waste stays with the generator from the moment it is created until it is destroyed.

  1. Paperwork per stop

A route collection visits several generators in a day and each one is a separate generator with its own manifest or tracking document. Nothing is combined onto one piece of paper because the vehicle was shared, which is the detail that makes route collection legitimate rather than convenient.

  2. Collection confirmation

What was taken from your site specifically, which for a small generator is the whole record.

  3. Signed manifest returned

From the designated facility, for anything that traveled as hazardous waste.

Before you ask for a price

What generators ask about box trucks, answered from the rules rather than from marketing copy.

No, that is exactly the case a lift-gate box truck exists for. Worth mentioning at quote stage so the right vehicle is scheduled rather than discovered on arrival.

Per drum, usually yes. Route collection is what closes the gap, because the trip is shared across several sites rather than dedicated to one.

Where compatibility and segregation requirements allow, yes, and it saves a visit. What cannot share a vehicle is decided by the materials, not by convenience.

Describe the stream. We will tell you the route.

A description of the process and a rough quantity is enough to start. A Certified Hazardous Materials Manager reads every request, and sometimes the answer is a different service than the one you asked about.
