The product is not the problem. The cleaning is.
Organics, trim, out-of-date stock and wash water are high in volume and almost never hazardous waste; they are a rendering, land application, digestion or landfill question, and the right answer is usually the cheapest lawful one. The hazardous streams on a food site come from everything around the product: concentrated caustic and acid clean-in-place chemicals that are corrosive on their own, sanitiser concentrates, laboratory reagents from quality control, ammonia from refrigeration, and the maintenance shop's solvents and used oil. That is a small list, it is stable, and it is the list worth spending attention on.
